Moving to vBulletin!

I've been reading through all of your feedback, and basically what I'm hearing is: We want this to look like the Sonlight Forums.

As you wish.

I've paid for a vBulletin license. I'll be importing the data from this forum over to the vBulletin installation in the next few minutes. Hopefully, it won't take as long as the last move. If it's not going well, I'll just turn this one back on, but I don't expect the move to take more than 30 minutes (I've already done a test installation). This means downtime until about 2:00 pm EST.

Cross your fingers!

I'll post updates here if necessary.

Hi. I want to say thanks. You have made a great forum. I am generally not vocal but I was surprised when I just try to check the forums. I liked the way the board looked. I hope you are going to keep some of the new additions.

I post in the Unschoolers forum and the Gifted Kids forum primarily. I love the unschooler/ relaxed forum!

I also like the your forums for the diversity. In our home, we are not limited to Sonlight, though I think it is one the best programs, I am ecletic use a combination of things to school my child.

Hi, Bryce.

I think the forum is working out ... I'm in the middle of our school day, and I thought, "I need to reference that thread on teaching writing." Only a couple weeks old, and the forum is already a good reference! -- Scribbler

Thanks, guys.

Just for clarification: when I say that people want AHFH to look like the Sonlight forums, I mean they want the same functionality (threaded views, RSS feeds, ignore lists, etc.), not the same "forum". So I went ahead and got the same software that the Sonlight forums runs on.

Rebuilding search indexes now -- should only be a few more minutes.

Thank you so much, Bryce. I'm sorry if you've felt I was complaining about this new forum. Whatever suggestions I'd made, I could certainly live without. I have no idea what goes into setting up and formatting a forum. As long as there is a place to log on and see friends, get info, etc., that is all that is really needed. Thank you for being such a blessing to all of us and for all of your hard work.

Wow, had now idea we were moving again (hadn't paid attention to the feedback forum). Wow, having those "extras"(ie thread views etc..) will be great, certainly didn't expect that we'd have that. Thanks Bryce for all the hard work you have done!
